TRI-LAKES REGION NEWSLETTER
HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone. We on the TRI-LAKES REGION executive are already busy at work planning activities for the coming year. If you have any ideas for speakers, tours, etc. let us know, your input would be most welcome. Maybe you could volunteer to run a tour.
There is one change in the executive line-up that you need to take note of. Fred Elliott is the new Treasurer and Membership person for Tri-Lakes, taking over from David Ellerby who wished to give up this position. Thanks, David, for doing the job for a number of years.
In 2009 we sent out our Newsletter by regular Postal delivery and some by email. This system has worked quite well and helps us to keep club expenses down. Anyone wishing to add their name to the email list can contact Bruce Johnson at (519)762-3419 or email Bruce at johnsoej@gmail.com. The great thing with using email is the Newsletter gets there quicker, in most cases, than the Postal service can deliver. What would we do without all this new technology?
NORMOSKA BULLETIN
Once again this years Normoska will be in the Tri-Lakes Region based at the Dorchester Fairgrounds. As no other region could be persuaded to organize the event this year and it would not have been held for the first time in all these years, Fred Elliott volunteered to do it again. So be prepared he may be calling on you to help in some way.
This year the date has been changed to August 22-28. As the Fairgrounds weren’t available on our usual week it was necessary to change weeks so mark your calendar. We are just in the beginning stage of planning so watch in the next Klaxons for more information.

Indoor meets are at the Putnam Community Hall, 4211 Breen Road (one-half mile north of 401, interchange 208 or just south of Hamilton Rd.) All meetings start at 7:30 pm. Please bring your own coffee mug and a few goodies to share.
January 20 : (Wednesday) Indoor Meet
As the turnout for the November meeting was not as good as usual we have again asked John Hinchcliffe to conduct an Auto Trivia quiz. This should be fun. Also he may have a video of car event’s he’s attended.
For all you readers in the group we are trying something new this year. We will be having a Book Exchange. Do you have any books or magazines that you’ve finished reading and no longer want to keep? If so bring them to this meeting. Someone else might like to read them and you may find some to take home yourself. This is not a sale, no money will be involved, just a sharing of books or magazines.
February 17 : (Wednesday) Indoor Meet
The guest speaker will be 13 yr. old Brittany Beatty. She is a stock car driver in the
Jr. Canadian Auto Racing Series. This past season she won the Rookie of the year.
Brittany goes to schools and speaks to students about racing and also about not
using alcohol or drugs when driving.
March 14 : (Sunday) Bowling Afternoon
2 PM at Fairmont Lanes in the Fairmont Plaza, 972 Hamilton Rd. at Hale St.
London. Special rate - $10 (tax included) for 3 games and shoes. Dinner after
bowling at a nearby restaurant. Bring your children, grandchildren or friends.
Come for some fellowship even if you won’t be bowling. Everyone welcome.
Call Fred or Liz Elliott at (519)451-6889 by February 20 so we can book the number of bowling lanes we will need and to book for dinner.
April 21 : (Wednesday) Indoor Meet
Our speaker for this meeting will be Frank Davis a veteran from the Second World
War. Mr. Davis does some speaking in area schools informing students what it was
like serving in the war. This should be an interesting speaker, so come out and hear
what he has to say. This is another way to support our military men and women.
May 2 : (Sunday) Vehicle Inspection Meet
Location : Home of Fred and Liz Elliott 466 Arvilla Blvd. London.
Arvilla Blvd is off Dundas, east of Clarke Rd., across from Canadian
Tire. Turn North between Harvey’s and Wendy’s
Time : Vehicle inspection from 9 am - 1 pm. At noon the club will be supplying
Hot Dogs, Pop and coffee. Following this we are planning a short tour.
